We talked with Tricia Kesecker at Maryland Physicians Care (Medicaid with a Heart) about the services they provide to Marylanders.
1. What is Maryland Physicians Care (Medicaid with a Heart)?
Maryland Physicians Care (MPC), "Medicaid with a Heart," provides free, quality health care services to Maryland's HealthChoice enrollees by extending the full benefits of Medicaid. Our strong network of hospitals, doctors, clinics, and pharmacies helps our Members live as healthy as possible through education, support, and quality programs.
2. What services are offered to MPC’s members?
For individuals eligible for free health care and join the Maryland Physicians Care Family, they receive various benefits at no cost. They include Free Cell Phone, Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, Pharmacy, Medical Management, Virtual Doctor Visits with MyVirtualMPC App, Unlimited support for new parents with the Free PACIFY App, and several Free Health and Wellness Programs.
3. How does Maryland Physicians Care identify who they work with?
Anyone can apply for free health insurance through Maryland Health Connection. Once it has been determined they meet the qualifications for free healthcare, they can choose any Managed Care Organization (MCO) such as Maryland Physicians Care.
4. Who can access Maryland Physicians Care?
Individuals who qualify for free health care are enrolled in HealthChoice and choose Maryland Physicians Care as their MCO can access MPC's programs and services, which are all free of charge. No referral is required to enroll with Maryland Physicians Care.
Members who need to see a specialist are given a referral by their Primary Care Physician.
5. Where are the services provided?
Services are provided to our members online, in-person through our network of providers, telephone, and MyVirtualMPC App. MPC is always looking for ways to apply our knowledge, adapt and improve with technology changes to meet our members’ expanding needs.
