Growing the Economy Through Child Care

The Council for a Strong America published a study examining the economic impacts of America’s child care crisis on infants and toddlers, working parents, employers, and taxpayers. The study found that a lack of affordable child care costs parents $37 billion each year. Additionally, a lack of reliable, quality care causes parents to miss work and be less productive, costing the economy an annual $13 billion dollars. These losses result in reduced tax revenue and cost taxpayers $7 billion dollars each year. In total, the child care crisis costs the United States economy $57 billion dollars.
