Maryland Food Maps

The Maryland Food Access maps were developed to help prenatal to age three stakeholders better understand the food access landscape across the state, including the consequences that can result from inadequate food access and the supports available to help improve food access. Overall, the maps include measures of food access, food security, federal nutrition programs, health outcomes, and other social determinants of health

Building Better Beginnings Legislative Priorities

Building Better Beginnings (B3) is Maryland’s Prenatal to Three systems change plan to improve the quality and quantity of programs and services that support families with young children. Over the past two and a half years, the coalition has worked to elevate the voices of those within the P-3 community to make improvements to our prenatal and early childhood systems. This year, the group prioritized issues that Maryland’s P-3 community would like to see addressed by elected officials and state leaders.

We say that we care about helping to make sure all of Maryland’s children reach their full potential. Yet despite our state’s work so far, many families continue to struggle to support their children during the critical early years of development.

We need high-quality affordable childcare, economic supports to create stable families, and critical health and developmental programs for our youngest children. These investments will save us all money in the long run by preventing the need for expensive interventions later in life.

Together, we can ensure Maryland’s children are are healthy and ready to be the workforce of tomorrow. Together we can Build Better Beginnings.
